We are currently looking to purchase our first pop-up trailer!  (we're HUGE BWCA campers, but that type of camping is not to easy with little ones!!)

We have it narrowed down to two brands....  Viking vs. Starcraft.  Of course, momma and papa don't agree on brands.  Therefore, we ask you, PUT members, which is your brand preference???

(as background...  we are looking at higher end models in both brands.  We steer towards those with "slide out" tables, largest beds possible, couch area.)

Any further information needed????  If not, let the polling begin!!

Kelly

I haven't owned either brand ... Palomino & Jayco for me.

If you've got it narrowed down that close ~ then take a look at the dealers you are looking to buy from and check out their service departments.  That would be the deal breaker for me.   Ask around ~ see what other campers have experienced at that dealership.

BTW ~ nice to see another Minnesotan on the boards!  Welcome!!

I have not owned a Starcraft.  I have owned a Viking and I can honestly say it was a great pop-up.  We had no problems with it.  I researched Starcrafts recently and can say they seem to offer more options than Viking, but they also seem to cost a bit more.  I told the DW that if we were going to buy a new pop-up instead of the TT we bought, I would give Starcraft a serious look.  I know this probably didn't help, but I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
Let me know who wins.

I haven't owned either of those brands, but I would second the statements made by both Kelly and The Viking! I think in decision as close as this seems to be, the dealer and/or "the deal" will be the make or break part of the equation.

I have leaned more towards Jayco and Rockwood in the past, but based on information gathered here at PUT, will definitely give Starcraft a look before my next purchase.

We own both a Starcraft PU and Hybred and love both. When we were looking we had to go to Yuba City (a couple hours drive from Sacramento) for the Jayco Dealer (and Service) and we have Starcraft and Coleman Dealerships in Sacramento. When we went to the Coleman Dealership they didn't even come out of their air conditioned Office to help us and 3 other couples looking on their lot. My husband didn't like that at all so we went to the Starcraft Dealership and decided to go with them because they also have a good service department. Bottom line is getting the floorplan you want and being satisfied with the Dealer.

I don't know if we heard this on these boards or not, but my husband told me that Starcraft has purchased Jayco, which are both good brands.

Good Luck!
