LED replacement lamps for interior lights?

I am looking to extend my battery life during dry camping. I was wondering, has anyone ever installed LED bulbs in their trailer? If so how did they work and where did you get them? Seems to me this might be a neat idea?

Yes I have replaced on bulb in each of my over head light with a LED bulb. It is ok for getting around, washing up, etc. If we need more light I turn on the second bulb and have the incandescent light to see by. I bought mine off of ebay. I will look for the seller later.  I have a picture of the LED light on my webshots page.

Thanks, I ordered one of the retro-fit kits for R.V. fixtures. I figure if it doesn't plug in I'll hard wire it. In the event this works I expect I'll convert my bunk end lights only. When we dry camp we'll leave tha main lights off and substitute the bunk end lights.

I also ordered a lamp to convert my mag light! If all this works, I may convert my battery lantern and a couple more flashlights. The prices on the site you gave me are really reasonable.

But, seriously we like them for spot or task lighting. They don't have the spread for good general lighting. Some of the multi LED bulb replacements try and overlap the narrow beams to create a larger spread but to me it forms a refraction pattern leaving a zebra strip effect.

That's why I am only going to ty one LED first and see how it works. I think for bunk end reading lights when we're dry camping It'll work.For all the lights it would be expensive and I like how bright the main lights are now. We only dry camp once or twice per year, it is often for a week or more. I also have a Honda 1000 watt generator to recharge!

NOw, on a serious note.  I agree with Mike, they can not be used to replace all the lights.  Our new Niagara has the new two bulb fixtures with a two position switch.  I have them set up so that position 1 on the switch just lights the LED position 2 lights both the LED as well as one of the original incandescent bulbs.

So for most tasks, the LED is sufficient, but sometimes you need a little extra light.
