Awning problem

Hi all,

We are just getting back into camping and I need a little help. We bought a 2001 pop up (Jayco Eagle 12FSO) a couple of weeks ago and tried it out for a few day last week.

It was great but I had a problem with the awning. It has a bag awning and support poles (they are brand new as they were never used). However, the vertical poles (uprights) are the "twist kind" with a some kind of flimsy locking mechanism that I really don't like or trust.

Does anyone know how I can get another type of uprights. I previously had a 1998 Jayco pop up that used uprights that had one section that slid over the other section. One section had holes and the other had a spring loaded tip that you could adjust to whatever height by pushing the tip in and sliding it to the next hole. I really liked that system much better, but where can I locate someone who sells them.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

The style that you mentioned (slide pole with spring loaded button locks) are the same as my Fleetwood / Coleman model bad awning.

If you have a Fleetwood dealer in your area, you might want to check with them. They are a bit pricey at $ 35.00 per pole though. It will run you over $ 100.00 in poles. (3 pole system)

Hey thanks for the tip. I'm not sure where I can find a fleetwood / Coleman dealer near me but at least I have a starting point. Thanks again!

Sorry for taking some time to responde.

Go to the Fleetwood website, //www.fleetwoodrv.com, folding trailers, dealer search, add your zip code, and this will give you the nearest dealers in your area. IIRC, you can adjust the radius area for the dealer search on this site.

If the dealer is too far from you, most dealers will ship parts UPS or simular method using a credit card.

Try this. Even if you don't order the poles from the dealers, you will at least know the model #, and the dealer's pricing for other search methods.

  Hope this helps.
