Quote from: macfowlWe leave Sept 29th. Head to Arizona, then New Mexico (for the Balloon Fiesta), then Texas, then Tennessee. Back to Texas, then up to Colorado then back to New Mexico and Arizona then home to Thousand Oaks :)  Two of our 4 kids are the same ages as your oldest and youngest :) We homeschool so we chose to do our trips on the off season somewhat. Just early enough to hopefully not hit any severe weather :)

That is AWESOME!  And you'll miss the hot, steamy temperatures!  My dream is to spend a year on the road, homeschooling and our kids learning our country first hand!

I just finished reading your camping journal .... What an Awesome journey!

Brought back a lot of memories from trips I've taken "out west".  I especially love Glacier and the northwestern part of Montana.

Your kids are going to have such incredible memories.

btw ~ Mt Rushmore is a (long) day's drive from Minnesota.  It's a very popular vacation destination ~ especially if you don't have a lot of time off.  Lots to do there and it doesn't take too (terribly) long to get there.

Continued safe travels.

Wow, Kristi!  What an amazing trip.  We spent a week in Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole at the end of June and now I want to go back for more.  I'm glad you and your family are enjoying your trip.  Thanks for sharing your journal.

We missed the Grand Tetons - we would definitely like to go back that way some day.  We just made it to the coast of Oregon -our favorite place to go.  BUT, we learned to never, even camp in Portland! YIKES!:yikes:

 Take Care!

We stayed in Jantzen Beach RV Resort.  For anyone reading, I wouldn't ever stay there again!!!!  It was clean, but not a safe area, nowhere near a beach, and we left early!

I LOVE the rvreview site Dee!  I also use that a lot.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get online and we trusted the AAA book.  They are going to get a letter from me about recommending that place!!!  If the KOA in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho had not been the dump it was, we would've never needed to camp in Portland at all, BUT it was a dump and not user friendly!  Otherwise, we had very good KOA luck when we used them along the way.

We've been away from WIFI for a week, it feels good to connect and check in!

We are on our last leg...4 nights in beautiful Florence, Oregon and then 1 night on the road and back to home sweet home.  One night in my bed and then off to a teacher's conference.  Boohoo!:(
