I am looking for directions or information on how to make my own awning lghts to hang outside of our new to us pop up..Back in college people used to take the large plastic Eskimo Joe's drink cups and make lights out of them to hang on patios..since we have several hundred EJ's cups we thought we would try this...so any ideas on how to make this all go together into a neat set of hanging lights for the awning would be much appreciated!!! PS..I know that we need to put a hole in the bottom of the cup and somehow put the light into the cup - I guess from the bottom..anyway..not sure what to do from there.  we are thining we will drill the hole with our rotozip but after that???? THanks and we pick up the new to us pop up in Dallas on Saturdday am!!! Wish us safe travels!!!

Could you just use a string of white outdoor (Christmas) lights?[/FONT]

My first set of awning was made from a string of lights like the older Christmas lights - 7 watt bulbs like night light bulbs - and for the colored covers on the bulbs I used different colored caps from laundry soap gallon bottles. I made a hole in the caps slightly smaller than the size of the bulb sockets and just pushed the sockets into the caps. Then turn the bulb into the socket. So far I have been the only one at any campground I have been to with these "custom" made awning lights.

I had a few strings of rope lights i bought a a yard sale and have used wooden pins them to the edge if the awning  its not a real bright light but just enough to see and does not attract the bugs. Work great for us.

Dear hubby finished the lights before we even picked up The Dream Catcher..We used old Eskimo Joe's cups and clear C7 christmas lights to make a great set of lights that reflect our personalities and our pride in where we went to school..GO POKES!!!!!  Not to mention where we spent a few nights...lol..anyway..once we figure out how to hang the durn things we will try and share pics with anyone that wants to see..all Oklahoma folks will surely appreciate these suvoneir (sp) lights!!
