New PUP, well not NEW...

Hubby and I officially became PUP owners last night.  An acquaintance sold us his 1981 Jayco for $1.  It needs a roof partial rebuild (which is actually doable we think) and a questionable amount of canvas work.  The roof has been susceptible to weather for a while now, but it was covered up until a storm a couple of weeks ago.  When we opened her up, water dripped down off the back canvas and the canvas looks dirty, maybe stained, but just a couple tiny tears.  Will have to see what a whole lot of cleaning does for it.  Already eyeing new canvas prices, ouch.  Thanks for the great info here!

If anyone has any experience with an 81 Jayco roof (fat chance eh?) speak now or forever hold your peace!  :yikes:

Look in the PUT Store for the canvas repair kit.  We had a small tear in ours and purchased that kit and it worked great.

Congratulations on the new PU.  Sorry I can't help you with the roof.  Have fun and enjoy the PU.:)

Congradulations on your investment on a new pu. I purchased a used pu with a good sized tear on the queen end. I purchased my new canvas from Canvas Replacements of Loyal, Wisconsin. You'll find their adds in Pop Up Times and I would speak highly for them.
What I did was I only purchased two sections instead of getting the whole canvas. Maybe you could wait and do another section next year and the year after. My dw and I purchased the queen bunk and the road side wall. The idea was we only puchased what we needed at the time so we could use the pu. In order to only purchase individual sections you have to deal directly with Canvas Replacements, they work with rv dealers but the dealers want you to buy the whole canvas. So check it out before someone trys to sell you the whole thing. You might want to get going the later in the season it gets the busier they get and it can take longer.
Good Luck!!
