I'm looking at few popups for my 1st ever "rv".. I have bought boats before & alot of buying tips should crosses over. but what kind of popup specific things should I be looking for.  I'm looking at PU's in the $2500 - $3k range,  early 90 models with AC.

Welcome to PUT.

Check the floor and the roof to make sure there isn't any sign of rotting.  Those are two of the biggest problems you can find in a used PU.  Think about the features you want, shower/toilet, refrigerator, furnace, ac, etc.  Some people like to have top down access to their fridge.  I don't like having the table blocking a bunkend, others like that layout.  Go check out new trailers to see what is available and what features you want, then when you look at used PUs you will have a better idea of what you really want.:)

I would second the floor & roof inspections, and add checking out the canvas. Cushions should be decent as well, but they are not as costly to replace if needed.  I also second checking out new trailers - mainly to get an idea of what kind of floorplan(s) you feel most comfortable with.  That really is one of the most important things in my opinion.

Good luck!
