Traded in for a new PU

Well, we have been looking at new ones off and on for a while but never really did anything because our old one was a 1998 Coleman Westlake with the infamous roof that was starting to get some serious sag and I just figured no dealer would give me anything in trade for it and I didn't feel good about selling it to a private party with the roof seemingly going south.  For grins I started talking to some dealers about trade-ins and was getting the same response - "you should really sell it yourself", ie "we don't want it".

So I went back to the local dealer who I was avoiding because I felt taken advantage of a little last time and talked to them about trading it in.  His answer - "I'm not afraid of the roof".  So we talked trade in value, I brought the trailer in for him to look at, he gave me what I wanted and we drove home with a brand new 2005 Fleetwood Colonial CP.

It's smaller than the Westlake but our oldest DD has already left home so we really felt like we had way to much room.  It has a king bed in one end for us and a smaller bed on the other end for the younger daughter.  Went through it pretty closely and everthing works as advertised.

All in all, we're satisfied and now looking forward to our first free weekend.

Downsizing will certainly help the  milage and be a big plus in this age of rising gas prices.........

Nice new unit. Good luck with it.

Do you think you will miss the inside shower though, having had one in the Westlake?

Thing is, we only used it twice in 4 years.  We actually used the outside shower more, so we feel like we'll be alright without it.

The one thing I'm looking at now is the screen door.  It doesn't seem to be seating right.  To fasten it at the top you have to bow the frame quite a bit.  Anybody else have this problem?

OUr door has never fit right....sometimes it barely latches at all at the top.  We should have taken it back to the dealer but just never got around to doing it when we could stand to have it gone for a few days.  We just deal with it....

just got done sanitizing the water system (according to both Fleetwood's and Shur-Flo's instructions) and made an adjustment to the water pump so it wasn't cycling on and off.  And while I was at it tried the screen door again and this time it went in fine.  So....I guess I'll have to chalk it up to 'pilot error'   :p

Congratulations on the new PU.  Do you have the outside shower option? :)

OC Campers

Congratulations on the new popup.  I am glad a Coleman/fFleetwood dealer stood by its product and took it in trade.  They probably have a new roof sitting in their repair shop and can fix it an re-sell it.

Enjoy the camper.

Yes, we have that.  Pretty much the only two things we didn't get were the AC and hydraulic lift.  Used it this weekend and found everything working pretty much as advertised.

So far, so good :)
