Has anyone stayed at the Indiana Dunes State Park campground since it has been remodeled / updated?

If so, how is it now, what changes were made, and how are the shower and restroom facilities?

Thanks!

We were there in 2001 - the restrooms were, well, basic.  The showers were, on the "open" concept, meaning without private stalls.

The campground road was the most rutted and potholed campground road I have ever seen, anywhere.

If it has been renovated since then, none of this may be relevant.

One thing I'm sure has not changed is the racoons.  They had signs up, and specifically told us, if you keep food in your vehicle to lock the doors, because the 'coons had figured out how to open some vehicles!

I have not been there since the remodel.  It is my understanding that it is very nice now.  They put in new restrooms, paved the roads and took out some of the camp sites so it not so crowded.  If you post this question over athe Great Lakes Pop Up Club site, //www.glpuc.org/forum you will probably find somebody that has been there.

Thanks!  :!  I just registered at http://www.glpuc.org/forum/. I was not aware of this one.

About the Dunes campground....... It's been years since I've been there and have heard that it was getting run down. But I have heard that since the remodel it is very nice!!?? I just wanted to see if someone could verify it for me. I did see (I think online) that the sites now have a concrete pad?  And from the way they word the info, the "comfort stations" are very modern. I am going to call and see if the "community" showers have been changed to private showers because my DW and children would have issues with that.

Thanks again for the info!

We stayed at the Indiana Dunes State Park CG this Labor Day weekend and we were very impressed. The new and improved CG is very nice.  :#

The number of campsites has been reduced from about 325 to 140 sites, allowing much more space between and around the sites. Each site has a concrete pad for the RV to park on and a paved parking space large enough for 2 vehicles. All the roads in the CG are paved also. All the electrical has been replaced with new hookups with 110, 30A and 50A connections. Nice fire pit rings at each site.  Restrooms/showers are new and very modern, nice, and clean. There are 2 of these "comfort stations" with a few other small restrooms throughout the CG. Playground facilities are new and the kids loved it. CG was very clean and well kept (hopefully it will stay that way), and it was quiet for a holiday weekend. Handicap camp sites are available and the restroom/showers are handicap friendly. Good trails/hiking and the beach and water is a hit also. Overall it is very nice! BIG IMPROVEMENT!
