Just came back from a good time perhaps my only time this year of using my popup!  Went out to Green Lake Rustic Campground in the Waterloo Rec Area in SE Michigan.  I took last Fri off and told my wife I wanted to go camping at least one more time this year before we have our baby(due next month) I got out there just after 10:30 am and got the last spot out of I think 28 maybe 30 sites.  I camped in #10 which used to be the best site right on the water under 10 huge old ash trees:( but they are all gone now thanks to EAB) but wiith the  Shade of the awning and 2 cheap dinning canopies I made due.  I noticed that there were a million cicada killer wasps all buzzing around in the hot sunlight.  If you are unfamiliar with what those are let me tell you they look like the biggest, scariest preditor hornet you can imagine except they only attack cicadas.  This must be the reason nobody camped in the spot. cause it ment I had a perfect landing spot to dock my canoe and a nice veiw of the lake.  I forgot my camera;(  Any ways I had a great time  My wife came up for the day on Sat. and we went out for lunch in Chelsea and to the Geologic cnter in Waterloo. I must a caught 20 nice size bluegill and 2 huge bass.  I threw em all back for the fnext fish luver:)  The only sore spot with me was there always has to be people camping that just get ****** drunk and then embark into a sleep depervation experiment.  At one point I woke up about 03:30 to the soundtrack of the TV show COPS I felt sorry for all the families with small children.  F... this F... that.  I know all to well not to charge over and escalate things all I could think of is whistle.  You see I have this extreamly loud whistle that in one blast will make you stop dead and wonder what that noise is.  But the jerks counterd with a blast from what I am sure was a half stick of TnT.  Im sure the entire campground woke up and everybody agonized in their own minds..."Should I call the DNR or the sherrif or not?..."  Luckly the drunkin couple who where in the Domestic dispute solved things by someone roaring off in their dumb*** moblie and things calmed down.  Oh well it's something I almost expect now in campgrounds around here.  This one Green lake being to smallest one around within 50 mile of my house.  It's a sorry state of things I guess but with our new camper I dont have to go into the UP backpacking to get away from the rable I think I maybe have to go a bit further though from now on.
HAve a nice weekend Popupers!

There's only been a couple times we've run into that kind of problem.

But on our most recent trip, we didn't do enough research and the campground turned out to also be the local bar.  PJay, with her asthma, was not pleased at having to register in a smoke-filled bar.  On the Saturday night, they had a huge party at the bar for someone or other.  The bar closed at 2 AM.  Guess how I knew that.

Sorry about your bad experience. Welcome to the board!

Sorry to hear you had to put up with that junk.

Go figure! We went to Pontiac Lk this past weekend (as a 2nd choice, 1st choice was full) . More commonly known as party central. We were amazed at how quiet it was at night. Rangers even doing foot patrols. Best we could figure is they are trying to take the park back and turn it over to the families again.

I've never been there and don't live close by, but that sounds like great news!
