Any 19 footers out there?

Just wondering if there are any owners of a Jayco, Rockwood or other 19' hybrids out there and what you'd care to share???

I've been going back and forth on the upcoming upgrade and just can't decide! My TV is rated for 5000 and 25 ft. I've drooled over various 23B's, GeneF's for one, also a Rockwood as it's a little lighter! My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 100K on it, and I hope to put 80 to 100K MORE on it before I trade. We carry about 175 lbs of kayaking gear over and above the camping gear and I think the 23B's just crowd the limit a little too much. Had one dealer tell me that we'd never pack 960 lbs (this was the Jayco) in the trailer or jeep and travel. So I said deduct 175 lbs for Kayaks, weight of A/C, Awning, Spare Tire and Carrier, Batteries, Propane, the occasional full tank of fresh water when we dry camp, and we can carry maybe a can of spaghettios!!!

SOOO, my second choice for floorplan is a 19, Jayco, Rockwood, etc, they all seem to be laid out the same. Anybody out there that can talk to me about one? I can't find one locally to actually touch yet!

Just wondering if your tv would have a different weight rating if you were using a wdh.

I believe my Silverado is 5000 lbs but if I use a wdh, I am SUPPOSED to be able to tow about 10,000 lbs.

Just a thought.

I tow a KZ Coyote C20 with my Pathfinder which is rated at 5000lbs but I also use a WDH and have installed a trans cooler.  Just got back from Hocking Hills in Ohio and had no problem with the Pathfinder pulling the Coyote,

It does not have a slide out.

Thanks GeneF and Campingcop!
I think the 5k and 25ft length is with a WDH, and is pretty firm.

However- how things change in my life!!!

We stopped at City Auto Sales in Claremont, NH so I (we) could see and touch a 19 ft Jayco Hybrid. They didn't have one, but did have a 19 footer and the floor plan is similar. Also had a used Kiwi 23b! Took my shoes off, laid in the bunks, stood in the shower (at 6'3", I didn't fit!) "Tried on" all the models they had from 19' to 23'.

As we're walking to the next model Mary (DW) says to me "Why are you so interested in these hybrids?" I said I thought we'd discussed this and this was our next step?" She says, "when do you plan on buying it?" I said "I'm ready anytime the deal is right" She says "I'm not!"

So until we agree on something and WHEN- looks like we'll be popping UP instead of OUT!

We have a Jayco 19H--and really like it!  It is very adequate for our needs, although we would probably prefer a little bit bigger, but our towing capacity just would not allow this.  Favorite thing on the hybrid is the full kitchen and refrigerator in addition to the bathroom.

We found that the Jayco 19 footer had a smaller shower than the 18. In the 19 they put the skylight over the toilet while in the 18 its in the shower stall itself giving you the extra height. My hubby calls it his"dino" window (a Flinstones reference) I would have liked the extra trailer room in the 19 including the sofa but the taller shower in the 18F was the deciding factor.

Gary, have you looked at any of the Starcraft models? We are in the some situation as you in regards with towing weight. The 21sso is the model we are looking at.Now, if we can sell our 2003 Coleman.I hope this helps,David.

Hello all!

We have a 2006 Salem 19EX LE and love it.  I'm 6'1" and it just has a LOT more headroom than the other brands we looked at...  It is also SO nice that you have your own bathroom.  Besides the price, I chose the Salem because it has very large water tanks, and the fresh water tank is heated - which is nice because we camp well into the winter months.  I have lots of pics on my webshots page, just click the link under my profile.  I hope this helped!

Take a look at the Cubs. They tend to run a bit lighter than other brands. Might fit your needs and convince the wife. I pull a Cub 236 with a 93 Astro just fine. 28' feet open.
