Hope this is addressed to the correct forum; my question is a general one and has to do with buying a new TV with sufficient power to pull our pop up.  We own an '04 Viking Epic (loaded weight typically between 22-2500 lbs.).  We pull it quite easily behind our '99 Rodeo Isuzu (V-6, GVWR-4500lbs) on flat terrain.  We hope to tackle the mountains this Fall, but do not feel the Rodeo to be up to the task.  Would appreciate input from readers esp those familiar with mountain driving regarding a minimum power plant (size of motor, transmission, rear end ratio) to haul our little Epic around with.  Also any thoughts about the need for brakes (our pop up has none), sway control, etc.

Appreciate your input

I don't think you'll set any speed records, but I think your Rodeo will probably do it. If you don't already have one, invest in a transmission cooler (if you have auto tranny). They are cheap and easy to install, I understand.

I might suggest this: My truck knows very well when we are towing (4 cylinder). But I have found the sweet spot in the RPM's for when I am going up a hill: It is about 3200 RPM's (not terribly high for this motor and gearing). There are a few hills around here locally, that I just get the motor at 3200, in 3rd gear (5 speed) and it does pretty well. Any faster, it doesn't help, any slower, not enough power. So, there's my sweet spot.

Also works pretty well on the interstate. I can drop to 4th gear and find the sweet spot.

Not as easy to do with an auto tranny, but if you find that sweet spot in the RPM's, it will translate to a certain speed.
