The maiden voyage is coming soon, and the DW and I went to brainstrom at the dealership where the trailer is,trying not to forget the stuff we need and want to take.Anyways,it was in the 90'sF. We step in and within a minute my eyes were burning and could actually taste the "smell",wife had same reaction.WE stepped out and After about a minute or so went back in and opened side windows and roof vent in bathroom. After working with auto finishes years ago and industrial solvents and finishes before that I,frankly, think I'm a bit of a sissy when it comes to fumes and such, but the wife doesn't have the history. The question is would something like fabreeze help or hurt? Has anyone had this strong of an oder? Does anyone travel with the vent open?(we do have the Maxx Air cover).

I have heard in the past that if you run the heat on high for several hours (couple days even???) or leave all windows open and ventilate as much as possible for several days that the glues will die down.

We have been to some shows and dealerships where we choked and had to quit looking at particular trailers.

I'm not sure if Larry's heat idea would work, but opening up and ventilating as much as possible couldn't hurt.

The adhesives that are used in construction of almost everything now-a-days can really wreak for quite a while.

Air fresheners will only make it smell better and won't get rid of what's causing the irritation in the first place. You'll still have problems, they'll just smell good.

I leave the roof vent on the ROO open all the time unless we're inside with the A.C. on.

Good luck

I believe that what is irritating you is the formaldehyde. Close the camper up with a pan of COMMERCIAL GRADE ammonia for a couple of days and it should help dissipate the smell and eye irritant. Of course, you will need to air out the ammonia for a day, but at least that only lasts a day.:D

It finnally went away during first trip outlots of air and a little time.Has not re-occurred in storage. So,maybe it is just a memory. Thanks for the ideas.
