Emerald Ash borer was confirmed in a State Park in the U.P. of Michigan. This is most likely a case of moving firewood. See link below.  The spread continues....  :mad:

Wow - you'll have to excuse my ignorance.  This critter is new to me.  When they say moving firewood.  You mean someone brought infested firewood into the park?

Yes, this is an exotic insect that came from China about 8 years ago. It has killed about 25,000,000 trees so far in SE Michigan. It's larvae can survive on a piece of wood as small as an inch, and firewood is one of the vectors for travel (adults can fly up to 1 mile). Currently 20 counties are quarentined to stop the movement of wood. Some people refuse to listen. The end result is outlier infestations in areas outside the quarentine. It's a sad state of affairs, 700 million trees in Michigan alone are at stake. Outbreaks have occured in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. If the movement of firewood does'nt stop control/eradication will never happen, and you can kiss the Ash goodbye!
