This is my first post but I have been lurking for quite a while.  My wife and I took our brand new Starcraft RT12 on our maiden trip to a dry CG in the Targhee NF.   Things went off without a hitch.  I wanted to thank all of you out there.  Your suggestions and tips made a smooth trip possible.

Are there others out there that tow RT's or Jayco Bajas?  Are there any particular quirks I should be aware of in a more offroad oriented PU?  Anyone know of any good places with easy streamside wading access in the ID/WY/MT region?  I am first and foremost a fisherman and wanted the PU as a portable fishing lodge.

Thanks,

Sorry I can't help you with your questions ... traveling alone with 4 kids is as much adventure as I can handle!  ... forget about dry camping or going off-road for now!  LOL  (... we do fish, but only off the dock or boat with grandpa!)

I just wanted to say welcome to PUT and I think your DL has an awesome name  :M

OC Campers

Sorry, I don't know much about the off-road campers.  I think they are a neat idea.  My dh really loves fly fishing.  He has talked about sometime in his lifetime hiring a guide and fishing the areas you are interested in.   He has also talked about getting back into ATC's and dirt bikes.  The Fleetwood Evolution is a neat concept for thiis purpose.

As Kelly did, I want to welcome you to PUT and wonderful world of popup/pop-out camping.

Hi Clay,

Congratulations on your new popup!  We have a Baja 10z, just purchased this summer.  Since it is our first pup, I can't speak for any differences between the "offroad" style vs. the traditional ones, other than: "Watch that last step !"

We primarily boondock in the National Forests here in Arizona. On the few trips we've made so far, we have just been trying to adapt our tent camping style to the pup, figure ways to efficiently stow things and decide what can be left in the camper, what old stuff we don't need, what new stuff we do need... etc.

The Baja tows like a charm behind my Tahoe, can't even tell it's there except on the uphill grades.

We hope make a trip to Yellowstone next summer.
