Quote from: teleskiermomI know a lot about the different campgrounds. Do you want to be in the heart of things or 1/2 way between areas? I lived ten years in the valley.

I decided on Crane flat because it was outside of the valley camping, yet did not seem as far away as some of the other camping.  The valley campgrounds seemed to be too busy and a little cramped.  Based on your experence does that seem right?

I would like to be inside the park since driving in from ouside is just too much.

Any suggestions are welcome..

Hey guys!  Well we've been vacationing in Yosemite, and staying at Housekeeping, for 4 years now, in May.  Our group is about 75 people (we're homeschoolers) and have a blast.  We actually don't cook as we bring a uhaul and some men from church who cook breakfast lunch and dinner (yeah it's sweet)

But we started a split last year, where some stay in housekeeping and some in Upper Pines in Rv's.  This will be our first yeat in our Tent camper.  We purchased one not for our family, but because we can't leave our dog in a boarding facility :yikes:

We actually adopted her, during our vacation time last year, when we were at Yosemite for a day and all of housekeeping was flooded by the river over night our first night there :( Instead of staying in the rain all week we opted to go back home and have a week on the beach ;) .  During that week we adopted our puppy, who is now almost a year and part of us :p

We'll be going to Yosemite in May, and I'll let you know any tips along our way!

Our first adventure in our pop will be Feb 20, we'll be staying at Carpenteria State Beach for 4 days. :usflag:

Our first trip in our 03 Santa Fe was to Carpenteria State beach.  We've since been there 3 other times.  Our family enjoys that campground. Some of the spots are a bit close, but we've been to so many other campgrounds just as close.  My kids actually like seeing the trains go by so close, the first night the trains were a bit unnerving, but after that it was no big deal.

We like to drive up to Santa Barbara for some day trips stuff.

Have fun.
