Well, we couldn't stand it. We actually didn't have something planned for this weekend, so we were able to take the last available site at Guajome in Oceanside. We're off as soon as Dave gets home from work in an hour or so and will be home on Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone!

PS We've got our ant deterrents Trina! Glad you wrote that review of this cg so I could be prepared!! I HATE ANTS!!!!!!

Actually, that reminds me of something my mom once said to me that about knocked me off my feet. I was home for the summer from college, and I must have been going into my junior or senior year. I was on my way out the door for the evening, when my mom said "Well have a nice time, and be good. And if you can't be good, be careful, and if you can't be careful, name it after me." And then she just laughed.

Yes, my mom. My sweet little mom. I'll never forget how surprised I was when she said that, but I was a teenager and I was cool, so I just nonchalantly gave her a kiss on the cheek and kept walking out that door like I never heard a word she said. It stills cracks me up when I think of how she laughed at how funny she was. :)

Hi Jacqui!!!

I can still picture my mom's face too.  It makes me laugh when I think about it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to post our pictures from this trip:  http://community.webshots.com/user/griffysmom3 and click on Guajome.

Lori, what a pretty campground.  All the years we lived in Orange County, I have never heard of it.  Where is is located?   I love anything with trees.

It's in Oceanside.  Once you get through Pendleton and just past the Oceanside harbor exit, you hang a left on Hwy 76 and it's about 7 miles inland.  Alhough you can hear some road noise from the cg, it wasn't that bad.  It's hidden well from the road, and you'd never know it was there just by driving past it.  We enjoyed it and will go back again.  The only thing is you definitely have to have ant deterrents.  After this weekend, I'm pretty sure Guajome is spanish for "ant hill"!!  Fortunatly, I had all my stuff and there were only a few stragglers that were unfortunate enough to make their way into our camper (where they were immediately squished).

That area always seems to be an ant magnet.  Even San Mateo has a pretty bad ant problem.  We always carry a bottle of Ajax cleanser to put around anything that touches the pavement.  I can deal with most bugs but ants really repulse me.  I think it is just because you usually don't get just one.  They come in droves and multiply like bunnies.

Okay, so how come I never heard of Ajax as ant deterrant from any of you oh-so-much-wiser-than-me campers?  Paul went up to someone at Guajome and asked what the white circles were that we were seeing on their sites and a lady told us about Ajax (after Paul already ran to the town to get some ant spray, which I later learned is a no-no in a county park - oopsie!)

Guajome was definitely the antiest place I've ever camped.

You know you just have to ask??!!:D ;)
