camp grounds near Yellowstone

Any recommendations for camping near Yellowstone National park?  I would like electricity..I'm whimpy....

Try West Yellowstone or Gardiner.  Drove through there recently and saw several campgrounds in each town.  That'll put you as close to Yellowstone as you can get without being in the park.

If you are coming from the East, Cody area has lots of private campgrounds on the way to Yellowstone. I can't recommend any, way to crowded for me to stay at. :eyecrazy: I don't think any of the campgrounds within the Park itself has electric service.

Fishing Bridge in the park has full hookups, but that campground is restricted to hard side campers only, no pups.  All other campgrounds in the park are dry camping and allow pups and tents.  We stayed for 10 nights in the Grant Village campground.  Loved it.

One thing to consider if staying outside the park...this park is HUGE, it's as big as Delaware and Rhode Island combined.  We had 200 to 250 mile days of driving just inside the park to see various areas of the park.  Staying outside the park will add to that mileage.

We are headed to Yellowstone May 31st for the week.  
Any recommendations for that time of year?  It seems if we camp there it's nearly primitive camping as I have heard that for some areas the showers are up to an hour away.  WOW.

If anyone has gone this time of year, would you say it's too cold to camp in a pup?

We are planning a trip there in mid June. Also hail from the DFW area. We are booking at  KOA the first night and plan to dry camp in the park for several days before moving on north.

We were in Rocky Mtn NP June of last year and were snowed on a few times. Camped at 7800 ft, a little higher than Yellowstone proper.

We spent a lot of time outside and dressed for the weather. Walls type coats and overalls did the trick on colder days and shorts and jackets on others. Was cold at night, but we did not use a full bottle of propane in 10 days.

We recently sold the PUP and bought a Chalet.
