Hi Everyone,
I would like to know what it takes to be a wagon master. If i knew i might just try and organize a rally here in Vegas. Any info on how to organize and the types of events we should have would be very helpful. Thanks,..........Ed C.

All you got to do is be willing to be point man and do all the homework. You have to figure where you want to hold the rally, or pick places that you would like and have others vote on it. You'll have to co-ordinate with the eventual campground for holding sites for reservations etc, and of course you'll have to promote the rally to get members to sign on... It also helps to organize a few things to do at the rally, like pot luck dinners etc...

One we went on with MAPCE (Mid Atlantic Popup Camper Enthusiasts) at Trap Pond SP in Delaware was to reserve one extra site in the middle of the group, have each party chip in to help cover the cost. We put up a tent to make it look used, and used this site for nightly campfires and the pop luck.

In short, it'll be up to YOU to make things happen!

Each person has his or her own style.  It could be from reserving spots and collecting money for all or the way I do it is a self serve rally where everyone reserves their own spot.  (William Heise Rally)   I ask for help in coordinating potlucks, etc.  I went as far as planning a scavenger hunt with a "family" prize.  I had welcome gifts for the kids and adults......However, it was a relatively small rally so I could afford to do that.  The bigger rallies would be too much expense.  Ask people to help....you will be surprised how many people will take on a task.  I was told by a seasoned wagonmaster..(Lori).....you plan it and they will come.  And, they did come.  You will be amazed!  Good people, lots of fun!!  I am doing it again in april, so, COME ON PEOPLE, MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW....you can always cancel.

Good Luck and have fun!!!!
