We plan on a cross country PU trip next Summer.  My DW "must" stay connected to the internet through the trip.  Any advice on Wi-Fi and campgrounds.  Work related, not a shopping junkie.

A friend of mine has a Virizon wireless card that allows her to access the internet anywhere she has cell phone signal.  It seems to work well.:)

Hold onto your wallet!

We were excited to stay at a campground in Charleston, SC that advertised WiFi availability throughout the campground. Silly me; I thought it would be free! Turns out, to use it you had to pay $4 per day access. The way it worked was, when you powered up your laptop to connect, you got to an entry page that required you to give your credit card number. Then they charged your card for each day that you used it.

Seemed a bit pricey to me.

Pricy indeed!  We have stayed at a handful of campgrounds and several motels that had wireless internet access.  None of them ever charged anything for it.

My recent experience is that about 1/3 of comercial campgrounds have some form of internet access.  State parks have nothing.

THe hotels I usually end up at, on others dimes of course, change between $10 and $20 per day for access. $4 seems cheap. If it is work related, and you do not own the company, at least it can be charged back.

KOA campgrounds offers KOA Connect for $14.95/mo.  That price includes all Hotspotzz WiFi location access throughout the country.

Or, you can stop at Starbucks along your trip.  Their monthly acess plan is through Earthlink.

Check out the prices at this campground.

The dial up if nice, but not the linkspot.:eyecrazy:
