:p
The boat wasn't pulling anything.  I think tandem was enough.  You know it could be dangerous to tow too many things at one time.;)

They don't think so in Australia. Their big rigs often pull 5 trailers in tandun :p . It's quite a sight to see those "Road trains" going across the desert :yikes: .

I saw that on a Monster Machines show on TLC, I think. Was pretty impressive!

I drove from Brisbane to Perth Australia in '96. Going through the center of Australia is kinda like taking a gravel road (they call it a "metal" road   ) across the surface of Mars. It is the most desolate place that I have ever seen. Just flat barren desert with nothing growing for hundreds of miles. When you see a cloud of dust heading for you, from the opposite direction, you find the nearest place to get off the road as far as you can. When those road trains go by (at 90MPH), they throw gravel for hundreds of feet. It's extremely difficult to make it all the way across without having all the glass in your vehicle broken. I was fortunate/careful and only suffered a few cracks in the windshield. You can see them coming from about 15-20 miles away. That gives you about 20 minutes to get well off of the road (IF you can find a place).

When we got to Perth we sold the car (which we just bought in Brisbane) and flew back to Brisbane. We actually made a profit on the car, cracked w/s and all :D . It was enough to pay most of our expenses for the trip over. Although, I would NEVER consider doing it again.
