Was just wondering if anyone has seen the new Coleman Tops. I have an ABS top on my Coleman Santa Fe and will have to have it replaced one day to to warpage, which seems to be quite common with these ABS tops. I did see on the Coleman Web Site that the new tops have an automobile finish which concerned me because we really liked the finish on the ABS.

I have not seen one.  My understanding is that it is a move back to the roofs they were using before the ABS roof, with some improvements.  They made zillions of the old roof, so if they were any good at it, they should be good at it again.

Now if someone could explain why Jayco (or was it Starcraft?) went to an ABS roof after all the trouble Coleman had, I d love to hear about that!

MrBuneezI saw a lot of them at the RV shows, but they were all set-up.
So it was hard to see much.
But they still have a good look to them, rounded ends and everthing, they are just not made in one piece anymore.

AB, I might be wrong but I think the other manuf only used ABS for a short time back around 1999. If I remember correctly it was less than a full year.

MrBuneezI saw them last September.  They have ABS on the corners and there are roof rack rails already installed.  They also have a second channel for the awing on the back side of the trailer.

We also have a Santa Fe and love the top.

From your statement it s hard to understand if you need anew op now due to sag, or you may need on in the future because you feel they all go bad.  Even using the " worst case scenerio" , only 10% of the roofs go bad.  With a little luck you may not need one.

I have seen the new roofs at a couple of dealers now.  They actually look very nice and the roof rails are a nice bonus.

MrBuneezOne of the memebers in our camping club recently purchased a new Coleman Niagra with the new and improved top.  He tells me that the metal portion of the top is some sort of a honeycomb structural design.  I liked the look of the top and particurly the full length molded in track for the bike rack system.  The only thing I wasn t totally impressed with was the sealing gasket.  I thought it could be a little more substantial.

MrBuneezIf you do need a new roof the sooner you get it ordered the better the chance you  will get the old ABS one.  Once they are gone you will not be able to get a new one.
