It's going to be a cold winter in Central Minnesota this year.

Last summer was hotter than usual, and the old timers say a hot summer is usually followed by a cold winter.

It's started.  We've had at least five mornings already that were below zero (without the wind chill).  This monring, thermometer said

Those folks in Minnesota sure are detail oriented.

Can you actually feel the difference between -10 degrees and -10.4 degrees?

Does it make you feel warmer when it goes up to -10.3 degrees?

Wow, don't you guys have anything else to do but watch the thermometers?

Just kiddin .. but we don't get down to that detail in Massachusetts.

Have a great holiday season.

When it gets that cold, there are only two things to do...watch the thermometer and...well...let's just say there are some large families around here.

Austin,  I have heard that ice frozen to -10.4 degrees and lower is really great for camping and lasts a long time... Hope you will be able to save enough of it for the 06 summer camping campaign.............

Well, we've since had a long string of warm weather...when I would be expecting nightly dips into the negative (and even days that don't see positive at all), we have not had a day that didn't top freezing in some time.  20's at night, 30's in the day...great if you pay a Minnesota heat bill!

Speaking of heating bills...Our bill for last month was $356.45 which includes electric, natural gas, water and sewers....This also included my woodworking shop which is gas heated....Todays paper sez narural gas prices will be reduced by 25 % this month....That means more money to spend on fuel for our vehicles.......

Austin, Have you considered putting your idle Bayside out on a frozen lake and doing some ice fishing?  You could move it to where ever the fish are biting....A great way to spend those long and cold winter days and nights?????.........

Obviously, you didn't read my follow-up.  :p  It's been so warm around here that the lakes are melting.  Several cars have fallen through, and the front page of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune had a picture of a vehicle that was half-fallen through one day last week.  :yikes:

On the more personal note, I don't fish when it's warm, I'm sure not going to when it's cold.

Eat 'em, yes, catch 'em, no.
