I have a 2000 Ford F-150 supercab with a manual transmission and 4.2L V-6.  There are 2 different tow ratings listed in my owner's guide depending on my rear axle ratio.  Where do I find out my truck's rear axle ratio?  It's obviously not in the owner's guide.  Thanks!

Call a Ford dealer and give them your VIN (vehicle identification number). They should be able to look it up in their computer and tell you all the details about your particular truck.

you might be able to find the ratio on the axle itself.  Alot of axles have a sticker on them near the middle of the axle.  It has a part # and some have the axle ratio.  Im gonna guess 3.55 or 3.73, thats what i found when i did a quick google search on '2000 f150 axle ratio'.

CAPEd CODger

Find the axle code on the sticker on the door jamb, and look it up here.

Hope this helps.

If you still need to know pm me later with the vin # and i can run it and try to find out for you.  I work for Oakfield Ford. it might take me a 1 to 2 days to find depending on what time you send it.
