Quote from: fritz_monroeI really like the idea of the cassette toilet, but I don't want to have to drag the cassette thru the trailer to empty it, so that would leave the shower models.

If for no other reason than we are looking at going to Ft. Wilderness next year.  I know the showers are nice, but I shower in the morning, just like 90% of the other people there.

Initially, we liked the 2006 Niagara until we thought about the black water tank.

P.S.  Tim, your site is awesome, I've read just about every word on it.  Great resource.

Well, now you are making me comment more....

Don't count out a floorplan just because the cassette opens inside.  You only have to dump it every few days and they really are sealed well.  This would be a non issue for me.

While the comfort stations at Fort Wilderness can get busy, if you camp on a full hook up loop the number of folks who use the facilities in their Class A's and Fifth Wheels goes up considerably.

I too am disappointed with the FFT decision to put the black water tank in a pop up  :swear:

Thanks forthe kind words about my site.  I will be the first to admit that I have stolen most of the content on my site right here at PUT!

We aren't counting any of them out at the moment.  We definately want to get something that we really like.  I know I can do mods on it, but I'd rather be very happy with it to start.  We will be at the show in 2 weeks and really get a handle on the ones we really want.  Only after we are inside will we take it off our list.  For instance, we went to the local Palanoma dealer because I liked the idea of the hard sided pop up.  My wife stepped in and immediately felt closed in.  So that's off the list.

As for the shower, I saw that one of the Palonima's had a drain trap that hangs down farther than the rest of the frame.  Is this the norm?  Does your Niagara's drain trap hang way down?  That's one thing that makes me not want a shower, I'd be afraid that it would hit something going down the road.

Never really thought about this.  We would almost certainly stay in a full hookup site.

When you last went, how many pop ups did you see there?  I'm betting you were in the minority.

Shows that they think that they know more about what campers want than the campers do.

Between your site and Oz and Us' mod site, I've gotten a really good idea of some things to look for.

My trap is above the lower level of the frame, but then I added a pipe from side to side to make a single drain.  I mounted it right bechind the wheel so I'm really not afraid of snagging something.

Keep doing your homework.  Once you settle on something go by a dealer that has one and sit inside for a long time.  Pretend it's raining and you will be stuck inside.

I recommend taking the whole family and spending time in the trailer.  Have the kids in the beds and see how much room they really have.  Play a game at the table.:)

That's EXACTLY what we did last summer when we bought our new PU.  We had our three kids look at all the different models and they came with us to the different dealers.  It was a great lesson for the kids, and they always brought up a point or two that DW and I overlooked.  I made sure to ask them why they liked certain features, and didn't like others.  The whole process was fun and a good lesson, too.
