So where do you prefer to eat when you are stopping on the road?

We usually stop at a Denny's or a Sizzler.

Unless it's a really long trip (18-20 hours) we just pack sandwiches, drinks and snack and find a nice littel spot along the way to rest and enjoy.

Most anywhere that comes along.   Usually if we're traveling we have the pooch so going in anywhere isn't an option, however, we've gotten take out from many places..including plenty of pizza places!  That's always fun to eat as you're driving down the road!  LOL

We usually stop where ever.  More fast than slow, but on some trips we do stop at sit down restaurants.  Trying dinners is fun too.:)

If we have the DS with us it is always Taco Bell. The boy inhales them.
If it's just DH and I, I will pack subs or we stop at a rest area and I prep lunch. DH prefers to do all of his driving in one straight shot but on long trips that's just not possible for the rest of us normal people. LOL

Sure it is!  You just need an empty mayonaise jar.

DW and I found that eating out on the road is one fast way to put a hole in the budget.  Especially on a very long trip.

Breakfasts are generally cereal and coffee if we are travelling that morning.

We generally pull into a rest area and dw makes up some sandwiches plus chips and a drink.

If we have to eat on the road, we will generally go to a Wendy's or look for a buffet.  Buffets tend to be reasonable but you have to figure a couple of more dollars for the drink.  So a $4.99 buffet runs about $6.

We do eat on the road but it is genereally in a restaurant so that we can enjoy some of the local cuisine like cajun food, spare ribs or just some southern fried chicken. We don't do this every night.

I like to sit, relax and be served.

We usually stop somewhere thats on the way. Easy to get in, easy to get out. Unless of course the DW spots a Cracker Barrel first.;)

Chalet Diner.

I stop the car, get out, walk around trailer undoing two latches, pop up roof, pull out step, open door, step in, lift doorside wall & latch into place, lift streetside wall & latch into place.  About the time I'm done opening the trailer my wife has finished unbuckling the kids and they arrive at the door.  Make lunch, enjoy a cold soda or ice cream from the fridge, relax on the sofa, use the PP and reverse the setup process.

I try to scope out city parks or even schoolyards with playgrounds to stop at.  If we get lucky we can park right by the playground and let the kids play while we relax in the trailer.

Or, if we have plenty of time to kill and the kids are really crazy we'll stop at McD's with a playland for a happy meal.  The deal is, no play until food eaten.  No opening the happy meal toy until back in the car.  It works pretty well as bribery and helps to burn off some steam.

My DW loves to be creative & organized in her food preparation. Neither one of us can tolerate "Fast uhem food" any more. She prides herself on preparing great meals for the entire trip.

We keep our 12v fridge and microwave oven in the back seat of the TV. I also have an inverter in the TV so we can have 110v while under-way. We like to pull off, warm up something delicious and have a satisfying meal, that won't eat us :p  while we are sitting in the car for the next leg of the journey :D .

If it is only a short 5 hr or so trip we pack our own.  Until recently DD allergies forced us to supply all her food to be on the safe side so now that we are in the habit we just always bring enough for all of us.

if its and long ride we will do a sit down, if we are doing four hours we will do what ever i pack from home,

I voted Cracker Barrel/sit down, but often times we will just grab a drive-thru burger, too.
