Sherkston Shores is a resort with water park.  Beach on Lake Erie and a quarry.  Lots of seasonals and close to a number of cities that attracts a lot of teen and 20 somethings in the summer.  The park has its own security force.  The sites are very open with not much privacy at all.  I day trip there as its close to home but would never camp there.  There is a mfcc member headed there towards the end of June but its totally nuts there after that.

Was this place built on the site of the old Crystal Beach amusement park???

Hi.

Sherkston is not in Crystal Beach. CB was in the town of Ridgeway. Sherkston is just outside of Port Colborne.

We spent many years at Sherkston in their cottages and loved the place. Now, the place is built up with trailers that cover every square inch. There are various beaches and a fresh water quarry. It's *really* built up. Popups are placed in a tent/camper area that has showers, playground etc. It's within walking distance to the beaches. However, most folks use bikes or golf carts to get around.

I have mixed feelings about Sherkston. I preferred it when it was less built up and quieter. I feel it's been over developed. However, I'm 45. Your kids might like it alot. I dont know what your feelings are about the cleanliness of Lake Erie. I can tell you that we wont let our kids swim there anymore. Lots of dead fish and powered water craft in the water. The water's not the cleanest. However, they do have a big pool, if you dont mind swimming with kids that tend to pee in the water. :(

All-in-all, if you're looking for beach vacation, SS is pretty good. I dont suggest going during the 4th of July or Canada day. It's a zoo. Bye.
