I have my popup set up to the point of puttin up the rear bunk (U-shaped) rods. I have pulled out the bunks, secured them, pulled the canvas down around the ends, and secured them. However, when I tried to push up the bunk end rods, I met with a lot of resistance and didn't want to damage anything. My book says nothing about this (step-by-step) and I purchased this PUP six weeks ago and have had to wait for a time to remove obstacles from the pad to set it up. Where do I go from here? Unlatch  the bungee cords from their clips and put the poles up or push the poles up with bungee secured. thanks for your suggestions.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the rods that go down to the bumper (or trailer tongue on the other bunk)?

If that's what you mean, I usually get underneath the bunk platform and push up with my back. It does take a bit of a push. My wife just can't quite do it. I'm 6'4" and 225# so it's a little easier for me.

I think he's referring to the inside bunk end pole at the far end that the shepherds pole goes to (the Conestoga pole). Yes, you will run into some resistance, but it should slide up and into place. Just make sure it's not hanging up on anything...you don't want to tear it. You do have the weight of the canvas and friction going against you.

OK.... :book: I got it.

Make sure that you didn't pull the corners of the canvas down over the bunk platform corners too far. You should just barely put the canvas over the corners, then put your "U" shaped rod in place. Then, you can go back and pull the corners down farther, if need be.

It is common to put the corners on too far the first couple of times that you set up. :D

What year brand (Coleman I guess) camper do you have? If you are talking about the "bed bows" that are on the inside of the camper you many have to put them in place before you attach the tenting to the trailer.:)

On our Coleman trailer you are supposed to put the bed bows in place before you attach the tenting.  We pull the tenting over the mattress and then from the outside we swing the bed bows up into place and then pull the tenting down over the corners of the bunks and attach the Velcro.:)
