Hello,
I was looking for some advice with my pop up's secondary stove that hooks up to the outside. It has a screw in hook up and the flame and heat produced is not what it should be. I have tried undoing it and reconnecting it several times along with insuring there is propane in the bottle. It is a 2001 coleman utah. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  Thanks

Hello, and welcome to the board!

Colemans use two different styles of stoves depending on model years etc.
The one I had on the Cape Cod was a high pressure style. At the propane tanks were a red high pressure regulator that fed a "Tee" that went to a low pressure regulator, and to the outside range hookup.

If your outside stove uses a connector that will screw directly into a disposable propane bottle, hook it up to that and see if it works properly. If not, your problem is in the cook top. If it works OK, then check your regulator.

Check for spider webs where they line hooks up.  Spiders like these places for some reason.  Happened to me and I have since found it is a fairly common problem.

Welcome to PUT!  There was a problem with the check valve in the hose for the high pressure outside stoves.  I hope someone that knows more about it chimes in, but I think you may need to remove the check valve (which can be dangerous if you have a gas leak) or replace the hose.:)

Thanks for the info I will try them hopefully thursday

The "high pressure" hoses supplied with the Fleetwood outside stoves. The ones with the threaded connection have check valves at both ends which supposedly keeps any propane from leaking from the hose when you disconnect it/the stove. Problem is the check valves do get stuck quite regularly. IIRC a pair of needle nose pliers "fixes" the check valve.

An idea to consider, too, is having the regulator pressure checked. My Starcraft owner's manual says to have this done periodically and that the pressure (at least for Starcraft) is eleven (11) inches of water column pressure. My L/P supplier has a guage specifically to measure that pressure and has done so for me at no charge in that I'm a regular customer. Of course, you have to tow the camper over there in order for the service to be performed..

Thanks for the information the stove works fine with a tank hooked directly to it.
