I am thinking about a PU with a dinette slide-out. In the brochures, it gives a weight limit of 1100 lbs. for the bunks, but does not say anything about a weight limit on the slide-out. I realize it only slides out about 2ft. but I don't think it has any support poles or anything under the slide. Does anyone know if there is a weight limit on these? Just curious. TIA.

Jim,

Welcome to PUT. I have a PU with a slideout that has no outside support and have never had any problems. (knocks on wood) My side slides out about 2 - 2 1/2 ft. and I have had 4 full size adults (150 - 300 lbs) seated at the table. So I would have to say that the weight on a slide out is around the same as the weight on the bunk ends. Hope this helps.

You won't have any problem, just use it normally.  There's really only two people sitting kinda outside the camper main body, and the leverage point is so close to the camper that it would be very difficult to flip it.

Thanks for the input. It is good to know what other people think about these things. I wasn't too concerned about flipping it, didn't even think about that. I was more worried about bending or messing up the slide out mechanism since I am not exactly a "runway model"...if you know what I mean. Anyway, you have eased my mind on this. Thanks.

Funny, usually our heavier friends have expressed a true concern about flipping it.  Haven't done it yet...  :)

DrJ,
Although I can't rememer the exact weight, our Bayside does have a weight limit on the slide.  I want to say it is 300lbs, but that seems low.  It is on a sticker on the inside of the slide out.  unfortunately, it's raining here and I'm at work so I cant tell you the exact weight.  If you look at the units set up, any weight limits should be visible on warning stickers.  Don't forget, people will sue for anything and warnings seem to breed like rabbits.

Like previously mentioned, only the two outboard people in the slide are actually outside the camper box.  You will break the slide out of it's supports before you flip the camper, but I wouldn't try either option....

We love our slide.  It makes the camper feel much bigger.  It feels roomier than the 28 ft travel trailer we used to have.  Worth every penny.

If you contact the manufacturer about the weight limit on the slide out they will be able to tell you exactly.:)

I took tlhdoc's advice and contacted Fleetwood about the weight limit on the slide out dinette. They tell me there is a limit of 750 lbs. I don't know if this would hold true for other dinette slideouts by other manufacturers or not. Thanks to all who gave advice and/or information.

I always have the kids sit on the outside....since they are lighter...
