A few weeks ago I went to the RV dealership that I bought my PU from and filled my propane tank for $2.69 a gallon. I went yesterday to the Dealership to fill my other tank and the price is now $3.25 a gallon. What a difference a few weeks makes. What are you all paying for propane?...........Ed C. :yikes:

Filled up on Wednesday.  My local 76 gas station sells propane on a sliding scale.  1-8 gallons $3.49, 9-15 gallons $2.99, 16-30 gallons $2.49.

There was one occasion where I took in five 20lb, (at various levels of fullness), tanks to save a buck/gallon!  But all my tanks rarely go empty all at once.

With me, Murphy's law always kicks in.  If we're in the PUP and really need the furnace, both tanks will be empty by 2 AM. :yikes:

The only time the tank on the grill at home runs out is when the steaks are half done, and I hadn't had the chance to fill the tanks on the PUP (that ran out when it was so cold). :yikes:

Most places around here charge by the tankful.  I haven't checked prices lately, but last summer they were not too bad if the tank was empty.  If the tank was only half empty, then the effective price per gallon doubled.  For both places, propane was a convenience for customers, but a pain for the store.  They did not want to commit an employee for 10-15 minutes to sell $4.00 worth of propane.

I just got our extra tank filled yesterday. I asked how much a gallon and they said it was $3.27 per gallon which total up to a even $18.00 for a 20lb tank.  Since we use natural gas for our grill on our deck and this is a new camper for us I haven't bought propane for about 10 years but I remember paying around $9 the last time we had a propane gas grill.

I think we will be using our electric griddle alot this year while camping.  :D

Ironically, sadly, and strangely... it is cheaper (for me) to now swap my empty tanks at Home Depot for like $15-16 than fill them.

And, Home Depot is much closer than the nearest propane place (U-Hurl).  It cost $18/tank last time I had them filled - and that was 1/2 year ago.

I noticed about a week ago that HD was still about $16/tank to swap!

I have a story about propane fills.  One of our local LP suppliers put out a $6.00/20 lb tank coupon a couple of years ago on the county school calendar.  It was only on one page of the calendar.  I collected the unwanted coupons from my co-workers who didn't need them.

I still have 2 of them, and I can tell they hate me using them at the LP place, but there is NO expiration date on them, so they have to honor them.  After all, they have no problem raising my price when they deliver LP to the house...

We have a heavy duty equipment rental that has fairly decent propane prices for refills, probably 25% less than anywhere else.

And there may be a reason that it's cheaper to swap then refill; you might not be getting a full tank. I have seen a number of people complain that they didn't get 20 pounds of propane. The consensus was they were getting between 15 and 17 pounds. If that's the case it explains why it's cheaper to swap then refill.

BTW; there's another ripoff in the propane market that seems to be prevalent around me, and that's people charging one price to fill your tank. Whether or not you need 20 pounds or 5 pounds it's the same price. I can't seem to find anyone selling by the pound/gallon, it's all the one price model.

I have dual tanks on my trailer, and both had about 5 or 6 pounds of propane in them (little more then 1 gallon, which is 4.5 pounds). It cost me $13 each, which isn't bad if they're empty. But who wants to wait to the last pound in order to refill?

One place it is $10.00 per tank, no matter what amount of propane is used.  At another store in the same chain they will fill it for the flat rate or for $2.49 per gallon.  :)

Just paid $12.00 for a tank. Considering what that equals in charcoal and related hassles, still a bargan. ALTHOUGH charcoal, apple & mesquite are a MUST for my smoker! & I'd pay up to $4.99 maybe more, for like 20oz of certain types of woods for smoking in my smoker- go figure!
