"One other thing to consider. State Farm will not cancel your policy if you make a claim. LOL"

Griffsdad, I agree that State Farm is a good company and I was with them for many years, however, my current company didn't cancel my policy even though each of my kids smacked the front end of my car to the tune of $1100 each.  Different accidents and both of them hit the backends of their friends cars.  Yes, the rates did go up a bit but not an exhorbitant amount.

However, I could never figure this one out.  Several years ago, I had an accidental death policy on my auto insurance policy with State Farm.  I was in an accident and totalled my car.  Hit some black ice and then a tree and a stone wall.

State Farm wanted to cancel the accidental death rider on my policy.  Called my agent and it wasn't dropped.

Another interesting thing is that I did some research on different insurance companies.  You know, there aren't many good ones out there according to people who have reviewed them.  Seems like the people that have a problem will write a review but those that don't have a problem, don't write a review.

Insurance companies work in mysterious ways. :)

I've had roadside service for years and we've also have had there insurance for years...(house, cars trailer)when I got wiped out in 2003 (not my fault) and my car was totalled they had me in a new car in 6 days... bummer was I only had my truck for 6 months..it worked out since I didn't like it so much after I bought it so I got something I liked better..

Thanks for all the replies on AAA insurance.

They had some great prices but could not offer me a 1 million dollar umbrella policy.

I am going to go with Nationwide.  I can get my homeowners, umbrella and auto insurance policies for about $1600 less than I am now paying.

I figure that will pay for 533 gallons of gas at $3.00 a gallon and I can tow the Kiwi 5330 miles.

I checked rates with GEICO, AAA, Allstate, Nationwide, State Farm, and one online company.  Hate to say this but they all beat AllState on the auto insurance.

From the reading I have done, most experts suggest that you check rates with other companies every couple of years.

Doing the research has been very interesting.  They all seem to have slightly different criteria.  Biggest liability is having a driver under 21.

I did find that most of the companies did a credit check.  Seems that can affect your rates somewhat.

Also, having all of your insurance with one company can save you a few dollars.  Discounts are generally given for multiple policies.
