Can I get some sort of adapter to plug my 2000 Coleman Utah into a standard outlet at home?

PITPOP27

Yes, you can pick it up at Walmart for under $5! But it fits 3 prongs outlet!

The standard 3 prong outlet? Or like the one for your dryer?

PITPOP27

You shore power line plugs in (with some elbow on ours :p ) and the adapter plugs into a standard 3 prong outlet.

Be sure to either draw or memorize the way your shore power looks (someone far more advanced in electrical will probably chime in here for you) but there are two at my walmart, and it's shows on the packaging the position of your campers prongs...you could always buy both if  you forget ;)

Just go to an RV place or CW and tell them you need a 30amp to 15amop adapter, they will know what you mean. They look like this:

But mine no lookey like that one!

Mine is just a simple adapter like when you switch items which need to be grounded into a non grounded outlet...

You can go to the PUT store here and get this one,
PUT Store
also known as a hocky puck!!
but the one that Viking is showing you is a better one.

That's what I've got the hockey puck one! (I actually have two in case we lose one in a pinch!

Eric,

I've got the "hockey puck" and use that when I'm plugging in at home.  But just keep in mind that the outlet in your house is probably rated at 15 amps (20 amps tops).  If you want to use all your PU's electrical appliances at home, just be sure you don't use more amperage than what your house outlets (and extension cords) can handle.  When I plug in at home, all I use are the lights and the fridge.

If you need the full 30 amps, then you'll need an electrician to come in and add a 30 amp breaker and a outlet - and that's only if your existing electrical service can handle it.

Hope that wasn't too much information.

Yes, I added a 30amp breaker and outdoor outlet where I park my pu for it's resting time.  I could have put a 30 amp outlet, but I wanted to use the same outlet for my 5hp air compressor, so I use the hockey puck.  Works great.

I put a 30 amp outlet on the rv pad side of my house that way I could use the AC in the TT if need be.   I did it myself although I don't recommend this for everyone to try.  I had a good teacher show me how to do it. (My Dad)

I also ran a 30-A circuit and plug to my RV slip (about 10 feet from breaker box!) -- at the same time I was running the 50-A for the hot tub and 20-A circuits for the garage and shed.

If you are comfortable with electricity, and know how to do things "up to code", then it is not hard; just ensure you use the proper guage wire for your length & power draw.
