I won grand champion for a stalk of the  :Z evil plant tobacco one year.

Quote from: griffsmomI think so! :D   Did you ever win?  Or maybe being able to live to tell the tale is a win in and of itself...;)
Actually, in 6 years of driving, my best finish was 4th in my heat...not good enough to make it to the final heat...

But it's a great way to relieve frustration.....:eyecrazy:;)

Well, I did it. I finished my quilt entry for our local county fair. I hope I see a ribbon hanging from it when we go to the fair, but it's okay if I don't. It's gratifying enough to see how tickled my 5 y/o DS gets when he sees "his" quilt hanging up at the fair. :)

The theme this year is "Flower Power" and the artwork showed both gardening, as well as a Sixties kind of flavor to it. I, of course, chose to go "groovy" rather than "grow-y" and call my entry "Petals to the Metal" Here's a picture of the finished quilt:

Lori, your quilts deserve some special colored ribbons.  I have seen your work up close and personal and they are absolutely beautiful.  You truly have a gift girl friend:! .

Lori, that is the coolest.  I like that.  Good job.

Looks like a winner to me.  You'd get my vote!

 I didn't get mine!  Better look online!

My children all came home with 1st Prize blue ribbons last year, and two sweeps.
SORRY pics are INSANELY HUGE! The top two are Gabriel with his 1st prize and Sweeps ribbon for his time machine Knex car, still have it mounted,
Maia with her sweeps, and her 1st place ribbon(was stolen but they gave her another) on her salsa
And Miguel with his 1st place for his collection of Garbage Pail Kids (I thought they were gonna kick us out for the grossness of that one!)

Don't know what we'll do this year, but it should be fun.  Maia our food  sweeps winner won Home Town Buffet meals for the entire family.

Camping Coxes

Very kewl, Lori!  I noticed you got a pop-up of sorts on one of them.  It's an awesome quilt!

Great job

BTW,
If you want to cut the size of the pics down, go to photobucket, find the pics. Click on "Edit" just above each pic. On the new screen, go to the second box down and click on the 50% image size. Then just below that, click on "Resize".

That's all you have to do. The next time that you look at your post, the images will be 1/2 size. :D

 I edited and they are still bigger than life editing down to 25%  WTH! :compumad:  :D  Then they were miniscul now I've got to start all over!  I'll get it right!

That is awesome!!  I think it's great for kids to enter fairs.  It makes them active particpants and gives them a increased interest in more than just the rides and games fairs have.  Even if they don't win anything, they still gain self-esteem, a sense of acconmplishment, and confidence in themselves for putting together their entry, entering it and then seeing it on display.  Congrats to your kids and all the kids who participate in fairs!!  :#

They don't seem to have as many categories for the children as last year - well at least online.  Just Art, photography...I don't see quilting, foods, etc???  I found the site not totally up to snuff yet.....

We'll see.  I'll have to post what they do for  you later.  It was so exciting to see their ribbons last year!  We went with our school, so all the kids saw it!  So cute! :D
