Are you all listing them in any particular order of Highs and lows?

Where do you think (no pointing and laughing now!) we can book for May and june no problem?
We were River bound but I'm backing out, because of gas and opting for more local.

Depending on far you are willing to travel, here are some of my personal best:

Lake Casitas - Ojai, They have a nice water slide for the kids.
Lake Lopez - Arroyo Granda, also have a water slide (a BIG one)
and my spear of the moment favorite
Flying Flags
This one has full hookups, but I like staying in there overfill /tent area. Little less cost and its all grass.
they have a pool and spa, plus you can take in the Solvang area.
All of the above CG's, should have no problem getting in.

We always have dinner in Buelton and pick up some kringle in Solvang when we are camping nearby.

We noticed FlyingFlags three weeks ago when we were camping at ElCapitan.  Is there shade?  What we could see from the road looked like an asphalt parking lot.

This is a very nice CG. only asphalt is for the road way. Lots of trees and grass in the full hook up sites. grass only in the tent open area.
very well run and clean.

Where is a good place to eat in Buelton?  We are going there in August.

Thanks.

Anderson's Famous Pea Soup restaurant is there, and Dave and I ate at a western-style steak house one time that was fantastic. They gave you more food than you could eat in a month, and that's saying a lot, if you know how Dave and I eat. ;) There are also some cute little cafes and a smorgasboard in Solvang which is just up the road from Flying Flags.

Lori said it!  It's always Anderson's Split Pea Restaurant in Buelton!  If you're not familiar with it, it's a landmark.  They are famous for their namesake soup, but all their food is good.

Solvang is great for trying authentic Danish cuisine.  While there you must try a desert called Apfelskiver and an almond paste danish called Kringle!

:-()  :-() Ok we're going to Santee Lakes in May will let you know how that goes.  We ended up getting lakeside so that was a nice arrangement ;) .  No launch fees, LOVE that, hubby and kids can go fishing, he can float tube if he wants...No ramp, just get the kayak in the water and go, love the thought of that.  Has a playground, festive, a store.  3 nights $100. Oh and the best, it allows my Darla Bean.

Anyone else every stay here?

Leaving to Leo Carillo this friday :-()  :cake: cuz it's my birthday, it's my birthday!

would like to know how is Leo  Carrillo, I camped there with a church group back in 68 and remembered freezing...but we were iin a tent...remember caves and the ocean and walking under the freeway to get to the beach.  seems like there were lots of trees in the camping area.

That's correct. The campsites are generous. No hook-ups. Has restrooms & showers ($.25 for 2 1/2 minutes).

If you go there, try to get a site about half way in. The road noise can be annoying in the first 10-20 sites.

There are lots of beautiful walks along the cliffs and up a dry river bed. As you stated, it's a short walk under the highway over-pass to one of the most beautiful beaches on that stretch of coast. Lots of fun for the kids, climbing on the rocks.

We enjoyed it, a bit roudy of a cmap ground the first night, but whoever was in charge the 2nd night kept it under control. My site wasn't completely towards the front but we stayed in site 105 - it was one of the largest site, towards the back you can be on top of each other.  Next time I'd like to stay in the 70's on the creek bed.
