Hi,  We are just buying our first pop up camper.  I have seen hanging vanities but do not know where to buy one.  I am also looking for other ideas to get started. Thanks.

Hi pvero... welcome! I just bought my first pop up (pu or pup) last month and I love mine! I'm sure you & family will have many wonderful times. Now the vanity thing... I looked at all the camping related web sites and, although the products were nice, I decided to do my own thing... to save money. I bought a nylon organizer with about 16-20 separate pockets & hung it on the pu side with lg, thin S hooks. It held tissues, shampoo, sun glasses, etc. My car keys went in there so I wouldn't lose them. I also hung a 3 tiered, wire basket ( the kind you put veggies in) over the sink so my wine glasses could dry. You can put other things in there, too - not too heavy cuz the wire mesh is thin. I got a battery op travel mirror that went in the pocketed organizer. All these items can be collasped or rolled up for easy storage. My brother bought one of those fancy vanities at an RV show, installed it with bolts, forgot about it when taking down pu and it got all messed up, cracked it out of the bolts. He re-installed it right next to where he screwed it up previously and he's got these ugly holes from where he stripped the plastic. (I like my version better!  :D )  Hope this helps...

I am actually working on making one.  Hope to have some pictures posted this weekend.

It will hang over the sink and fold to the ceiling.

Ours came with our PU.  You might try your local dealer to see if they have one or could order one for you to buy. The delaer can also easily install it for you with special rivets they use to anchor it to the ceiling.  You can see ours in this picture.  It's just to the left of the galley, with the paper towels kind of hanging down at the bottom.  I really like ours and we use it every trip.  Just be sure to stow it against the ceiling on its holding bracket before you try to pop down.  Don't ask how I know that....

Our camper didn't come with the VanityMate.  Is that the correct name for it?  It's the Fleetwood gizmo that has a mirror in it.  I bought this overpriced item from our dealer and installed it myself.  It attaches to the ceiling with standard pop rivets.  Use the larger size.  As another "mod", I removed the plastic "circus" mirror and replace it with a real glass mirror.  If I remember correctly, it's 11.75" square.  1/8" thick glass works fine.  We now like it as an accessory, but wasn't worth it monetarily.

In our previous PUP, we put an expandable shower curtain rod between the short sides of the camper (meaning not lengthwise).  It was great to hang towels to dry, hang toiletry bags and mirrors and as mentioned, a 3 tier fruit basket where we kept simple things like oh, bananas. :)  You can buy hanging canvas shelves, etc. at most Bed, Bath and Beyond stores if that works better for you.  My SIL did bump his head on it a few times but mostly it was out of the way.
