1985 viking220  .  im trying to get my furnace working and im not sure how.  the guy i bought the unit from used a battery and jumper cables with clips on one end that he attached to the furnace.  i dont like this setup (seems alittle unsafe) and i want to install a battery on the toungue of the unit.  i dont know how or where the wiring is or what i shoukld be looking for.  did these units have batterys installed factrory or was there power supplyed from the vehicle.  i just want to  use my furnace the way it was intended to be wired.  its a 12 volt unit.  not sure how to wire it.

I am just guessing, but if you Viking came with 12v appliances, a battery should have been at least an option.  You should only need a box for the battery and a plug to connect the battery to existing wiring on the Viking.

Assuming that is the case and you connect your battery to the coverter, your converter should have a circuit or two labeled specifically for your furnace.  Then you can use the furnace wiring diagram to connect it to your +12v source from the converter.

I don't know about Viking and the converter manufacturer, but the furnace manufacturer (most likely Suburban or Atwood) probably has the manual available online for free if you don't have one.  I'm sure Viking and the converter manufacuter either have there's online or could send you one for a small fee.  someone here probably has the same unit and may be able to give you specific instructions.  I'm just speaking in broad generalizations here..... :)

good luck
