Quote from: AustinBostonBut you need to realize the scale of the problem. Most pop-ups have two wheels (three including the spare). A few have two axles and so have four (five including a spare). Imagine the cost of maintining 68 wheels (69 incliding the spare).

So, does a 69 Wheel Camper have 34 axles, or do they put four wheels on each axle, making it 17 axles? :eyecrazy:

I can just imagine the mileage. :yikes:

I'll bet a 17 wheel camper would never sway! :p

It would be called a Class A Motorhome.

67 Wheelcamper

Is it registered?  Looks like a newer PA plate.

From the outside picture that looks exactly like the kind my parents had when I was young.  One thing I remember VERY well - be careful when popping it up that the supports don't pinch your fingers!

My parent's camper had a floorplan that was similar to the Jayco 10UD that we started out with, only we had one table & the 10UD had 2.  Good amount of storage space, plenty of sleeping space.

Enjoy!

Very close to the Wheel Camper we had when I was growing up, except we didn't have a furnace or stove (and no propane bottles, of course).  I believe ours was a '68 or '67.  The original taillights were single, large, round ones (about the size of a pie plate), sort of like the ones on a '59 Ford, if you can picture them.  I'm sure the square ones in the picture are replacements.

I remember setting up the camper being a three-man job (there were four boys in my family, so that was no problem).  No lift mechanism, just one guy on the back, and two on the struts, then quickly put the pin in place so the whole thing didn't collapse on you.

Memories....

No it wouldn't.  It is a trailer not a motor home.:)

I was working off of AB's humorous post of 17 axles, comparing to a degree the number of tires you'd have on a motorhome.  The whole thread's beginning to get a bit stretched.  Tracy, how about commenting on that license plate.  Is that a current PA plate?

UHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

it has a pretty cool hub cap on that spare. :p

OMG :yikes:

The hubcap on the spare is original, thats what first caught my eye.
Can't see if the hubcaps are on the wheels too, usually stuff like that is first to go.
Also no dings rips or tears on the body, someone must have cared for it at one time, the grime probably accumulated since it found its way to that sales yard.
Canvas hanging out looks bad though, no surpise there.
Would be a good one to restore from quickly looking at those pics.
