So Ebay makes me buy things I can live without but really really need, whatchagunnado?

I just received my Fleetwood Power Lift system to intall in my '06 Evolution E2.  New with all the goodies.  I would like to do the install myself. Has anyone done this mod themselves?  Any suggestions?  The only part the really makes me nervous is the propping the roof up while doing the install.  Any thoughts?

Does this mean none of you have ever tried this?

Propping the roof up is not a problem... Raise the roof and measure distance from floor of camper to under side of roof [ceiling] and cut four 2X4s to length for props, 2X2s will work also...Put a small piece of cardboard on the  ends of props to prevent them from scratching  floor or ceiling... Roof can also be propped up on the outside edges of top with a prop in each corner...Use some padding on top ends of props so gasket will not be damaged...I prefer the inside props ...

Installing the lift should be easy to do if you have any mechanical experience...I have a Barker power lift on my 01 Niagara [installed at factory] and have had it apart several times for maintenance..I have never had a problem with it...

Be sure to use #10 wire from battery to power lift... If you have any questions, please let me know..Good Luck.....

Thanks OG!

I will drop a note to let you know how it goes.

Any reason you have had to take it apart, is there any special concern I should be aware of?

I have been thinking of adding a power lift system to my '78 coleman Brandywine as part of upgrades and mods I'm calling project Brandynstien and would love to hear how your project goes and see pics if possible.

I am still debating the increased weight/complexity of power system vs proven performance and light weight of current manual system. Plus, will probably be replacing atwood fold down stabilizers with screw down ones that I will be using 18V dewalt to crank down, so could just buy adapter and use dewalt to raise roof.

I do like some way of powering it up, because although a young and fit 40, when doing biking or diving related camping, will often stop to engage in activities before going to campground and arrive in CG tired from day of biking/diving. At such times I have dreamed of being able to just push a button and watch it go up. But a drill adapter would work almost as well and keep weight down.

So, any thoughts about pro's and cons of power lift systems would be appreciated by me also.

I have the Barker power lift on my popup..I have never had to take it apart for anything other than cleaning and regreasing... It gets plenty of use so I usually do this twice a year... Once a year should be sufficient for seasonal use....Regular wheel bearing grease works fine and use plenty of it....
