Well, we just bought our first pu. We went yesterday to pick it up! We were so very excited to get it. We did the grand tour. And all of that good stuff got the hitch on and ready to leave, however our truck wouldn't start after they were done with the wiring! Yikes! So here we are no trailer no truck and very disappointed. Not really a great way to start out. Did I mention our truck is brand new! Its a 06! Just got the  plates a few weeks ago :(

It's hard waiting to buy a camper. It's waaay harder waiting to pickup the camper you already bought!
Congrats on the Niagara.

Molly what happened?  Did they fix the truck?  Congratulations on the new PU.  Where are you going on your first trip?:)

MollyS

Thanks!
We aren't sure what happened! Its being towed to the dealership on Monday! We hope to get it back soon! Kind of frustrating!
We were going to go to Oroville Dam, This coming weekend, and then to Fort Bragg come Memorial Day weekend!

Molly, sorry to hear about your truck.  When I bought my 05 Chrysler T&C I told my dealer that I was going to take my brake controller out of my 1995 Dodge Caravan and put it in my 2005.  He told me that wiring has changed since 1995 and that if I wired it like my 95 (to the cold side of the brake switch) it was likely that I'd effect the computer and cause unknown results.  So I let them do the research and they wired it for me (at a substantial cost).  So far so good.  Most RV and trailer places told me to put it in like I had before.  I'm glad I went to the car dealer for this one though.  Maybe this thread will do someone else some good when it comes to getting their newer vehicle wired up.  Please let us know the outcome so we can help others.  Ron

Hello MollyS,

Congrats on the new PU, sorry to hear about the truck!

Did the truck have a factory tow package?  Or were they wiring a Bargman connector from scratch?

Curious to hear about what happened!

MollyS

Thanks for all of the replies! Well we got our truck back, and our trailer is now home!:)
We had a factory wire harness, and such, they also installed a relay.
I guess the problem with the Truck was A relay. (what ever that means)
So the trailer dealership insisted it wasn't there doing, and gave us 100 dollars for "our trouble"
Thanks everyone!

We went camping last weekend in our new pu and it was so great! We cant wait to go again. Didn't go this weekend due to DH studying for CPA exam. But maybe next weekend.
I am so ready for May 26th to come around. Yee haw!
The pu was so easy and fun to use! Anyways thanks for listing (reading).

I believe you said you had a new Niagara.  How do you like it?  We accidentally traded our 99 Niagara in for a new one about three weeks ago.  Problem is our new one hasn't come in yet.  Hopefully it will be here soon as our first trip is the eighth of next month.  How do you like the hard walled bathroom?  Looks like it's easy to put up.  Our 99 had the storage area up front so we are loosing a lot of storage, looks like we may be able to fit more inside the PU though.  Hope you enjoy your new PU.

Oh we LOVE our new Niagara! It took us a month to get ours, hope you get yours soon. Where are you going on you first trip? The hard wall bath is super! It was way easy to set up and take down! Almost anyone could do it! We got a lot of things in it so far and think we can get way more into it! May I ask how you "accidentally" bought a new one?

Maine Camper

Hi, thanks for the input.
We are going to Acres of Wildlife in Steep Falls, ME.  We have been starting our camping seasons off there for years now. Great place to camp and fish.

How did I accidentally buy a new one?
I took our 99 Niagara back to the dealer to have the wheel bearings greased. I dropped it off with the intent to pick it up the following Saturday.  When I went back on Saturday DW and I started looking at the newer models, really liked what we saw in the new Niagara and the rest is history.  We had decided while driving to the dealer (about an hour and a half drive) that we would 'look'.  And even agreed on a trade in price for our old one should they offer.  Well they offered exactly what we had agreed upon. (i'm not sure if my car is bugged or not)    So anyway, as old as ours was, they made us a good offer and we are very happy & excited.  You should have seen us trying to empty everything out of the old PU and pack it in my SUV.  My eleven year old daughter took it a little hard as did my wife and I because we have a lot of fond memories of the old unit.  It was an abrupt farewell. But, we'll make some new memories with the new one.  We got AC with the new unit so on the next 90 degree day I'm sure we'll all appreciate it...
