So today we pulled the PU, a 2000 Coleman Sedona, out from storage to clean and get ready for the first camping weekend of the year.  We purchased a new battery during the winter.  I fully charged yesterday and put it in tonight only to not be able to get any power to the PU.  I simply hooked the two wires from the trailer onto the battery.

I plugged the PU into the house and all the lights work normally.  I tested the battery and it is fully charged and working properly.  As we are camping tomorrow (at a campground without power) I am hoping one of you may have a quick fix or know what I should look for.  Any ideas???

Thank you in advance for your responses!

A few things to check....obviously, make sure you have the battery connected correctly.  I'm not 100% but I THINK that black is negative and white is positive.  Someone else will correct me if I am wrong.  Also, there is a white plastic disconnect for the 12v system usually located on/near the tongue between the battery and where the wires go into the frame rail.  Did you disconnect that at the end of last season?

thats all I can think of.  hope it helps.

On your Coleman camper there should be a plug with a black and a white wire in it coming out of the tounge just behind the ball coupler, that is the connector for battery hookup. If you don't already have one your Coleman/Fleetwood dealer has a wiring harness with a mating plug and circuit breaker in it that is for hooking up the battery. The black wire is the +and the white wire is the- on a popup campers wiring. I am not sure what type of converter a 2000 model has but on my 1995 model the converter has a switch on the front that has 3 positions. One position is for 120 volt "shore power" hookup and the other way is for battery power.

Thank you for the help.  I did not unplug the quick disconnect over the winter but I also did not have the battery on the unit.  I am scrambling to find the answer as we leave for camping in 8 hours (and trying my darndest to not have to call a mobile RV repairman).

You could always check your fuses and breakers too.

I checked the fuses last night and they are all good.  The only switch in my panel I have to switch between 12v/120v/propane is labeled for the fridge (and is currently in the off position).  This is correct as with this switch in the off position it still is able to power up via 120v.

Start with the connection at the battery terminal.  Follow the black lead (+) and see if you have an inline fuse.  I don't have a Coleman, but I have a factory installed inline fuse on my Flagstaff wiring harness.  Chances are it is blown or missing.

 Good luck with your search...

p.s. Don't feel too bad. Last weekend I had to pop up and connect to shore power in the rain.  It was at the end of the second day that I noticed the frig wasn't as cold (110v) and that the lights were not as bright.  Finally traced the problem to CE (that's Camper Error) - I never switched on the shore power's circuit breaker and had run off of battery power for 2 days....:D

On my '99 Coleman Bayside, black is positive and white is negative.
