I went to the regional forum, but the only recent post I could see was one I posted in response to someone who had returned from Pennekamp.  Am I doing something wrong?

Well, here's the question.  I was going make a reservation at West Georgia's John Tanner State Park... what stopped me was that they say the reservation is non-refundable.  If I need to change my plans, I don't mind paying a penalty, but to lose the whole amount???   Since it's not my home state, I don't know when I would use it again.

Comments, please.

Also, does anyone know if campers are allowed to use their own kayaks?  It says that canoes and pedal boats are available for rental.  I believe I saw somewhere that there's a boat ramp and only boats with electric motors are allowed.

On a previous trip, I WAS allowed (not sure if I actually asked!) to put my kayak...it was a SP going up I-75.  HOWEVER, at Unicoi I was definitely not allowed.

I want to reserve 6 nights over the Labor Day weekend and want to book in advance.

I was able to find a direct number for the park.

I CAN put the kayak in the lower lake and it IS non-refundable.

oh, well....

Reservations are non-refundable, but you can transfer a reservation one time per year with no penalty. I.E. you can change the date or park one time without paying them a penalty.  I actually just had to use that option because we wanted to extend our 4th of July reservation a few days.
