Does anybody know anything about Bar Harbor Campground, on the bay in Northeast, Maryland??  I would like to book a weekend there but I have been unable to get them to answer the phone.  I've tried 2 different numbers listed and have got a voicemail message each time with no opportunity on the voicemail to leave them a message.  I also tried faxing my request to them with no response.

It sounds like a great place to camp according to my Woodall's book, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth the effort!!  Any input from anyone??

HI
We stayed there 2 years ago in July, the place is ok, the waterfront sites are very pleasant, but the rest of the place has many old seasonal trailers which really detract from the place. There is a well maintained pool, small  but fun, next to the office.bathhouse was fairly new and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There really aren't any organized activities for kids, but they can fish and crab off the dock. It would be a great place to bring a boat as they have a good ramp and docks for rent. It's a good location to visit Baltimore or the aberdeen proving grounds there is a interesting musuem there, if any one in the family likes antique munitions etc.Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info.  I did finally get through to them and reserved the last site for AUg 28.  She did inform me it was across from a seasonal, but I was okay with that for this time, just to go and check it out and see if we want to return.  But if so much of it is seasonal we probably won't go back.  Too bad because it is only about an hour or so from home and on the upper bay - sounds like it COULD be nice if they made a few changes.  Oh well - I'll let you know what we think when we get back.

Hi,
We just got back from a 5 day trip to Bar Harbor Campground. We love the place. We camped with three other families and some of our grown children. We had sites that were about 8 feet from the water and the view was spectacular. We were on the water sites farthest from the office and were very nicely shaded. There are some seasonal sites in the campground but all are kept pretty nicely. DH loves this campground because we bring his Waverunner and can keep it in the water for easy access the whole time we are camping. He gives rides to everyone and has a blast. We do this yearly. Noticed that they had a nice new big piece of kiddy playground equipment in the kid play yard. The campground always tries to upgrade and/or improve at least one major thing in the campground each season. We already have a week reserved for 2007! and can't wait!
