Not by me...I would never SPUT.......well almost never....well ok almost every trip but not this time. My friend has answered the call and bought a 1998 Rockwood for 4,000.00. Ive been giving him advise and some helpful hints. One of the first was to give your kids set up jobs BUT ALWAYS CHECK THEIR WORK. He has been practicing the set up in his driveway and gave his kids the job of unlatching the roof locks. Maybe they cant count to 4 yet but only 3 got unlatched and upon trying to crank up, the lift cable snapped.. I would of thought that the lock would fail but it held tight and was not damaged. I didnt know what it would cost to fix that ( my sputs have so far been cheap) but I bet he checks the next time....

Sully, I just bought a pup, started a new thread on it a minnit ago titled "Howdy & Goodbye." I got a super duper sweet deal on it because its previous owner did exactly what you described. Ka-sproing! :eyecrazy:

In this case, replacing a pulled-out eye bolt cured what ailed it. But I'll post and say it's probably a really good idea to take a quick walking tour of "the four corners" anytime you begin cranking and feel any resisance at all. Sounds like this might be happening to more folks than just one or two, and what a bummer it is...

Hey, I loved your pics of Gettysburg. I might be checking it out myself in the next couple weeks. Chamberlain's my favorite general, but ol' Pete was a hand too! Lee shoulda lissened to the rascal, eh?

Cheers,
Kurt

OUCH!

My kids unlatch too.  I make sure they count out loud as they walk around and then I follow around and check!  I think I'll keep on checking!

My wife did the similar while at the dealership. She was listening to the RV Mech as he was explaining on what she need to pay attention to while closing to the top, then RRIIPPPP  :swear: "Yeah, that is what I was telling you to watch for."  :banghead:

It was a small tear that she can fix it easily. But it was RIGHT after he told her to watch out for this...

Oh well :) live and learn.

In my family we cross everything we do.  They undo the latches and I check before we pop up.  At any time they can say stop when something doesn
