Has anyone gone 1 size up on their tires?

Just changed my mind.  I just read about some people flipping the axles for more clearance.  And bingo the light came on.  If I did that.  I would have a bit more room for bigger tires (higher load range, plus ride better over rough roads).

Now I just need to find out what is needed to do the flip.

If it's a conventional leaf spring with a solid axle all it takes is a new set of spring mounts/shackles. Dexter sells them as a "kit".

If it's a Torflex axle it means adding custom spacer blocks. Not quite as easy.

BTW: just in case you didn't know you do not flip the axle. The axle has a camber built nito it and reversing the axle throws off the alignment of the axle and you can expect weird wear patterns on the tires.

As for the tires, as long as you hold it to under 50% greater capacity than the OEM tires and check for clearance all around the wheel well, not just at the top, you shouldn't have any problems.

Oh Yah, you will need a new drawbar as everything goes up. That includes the door step and stabilzers as well.

Looks like its going to have to wait till we get back.  Its a torsion axle so it need some plates.  Know how to do it.  Just no time.  Just going to order some new tires for now and head on out.  We are actually not taking posession of the trailer to 2 days before the trip.  And they are already accounted for time wise.
