Yesterday we took the kids to  the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, We were in the second row, dead center in the Areana. We could reach out and touch the elephants, thats what good seats we had. I haven't been to the Circus since I was a kid and this show was AWSOME!!! My girls loved it, they loved the clowns, all the animals (elephants, dogs, cats, zebras, lamas, birds, horses). The Chinese Acrobats were so good, there were 5 different groups of them. The tickets i bought got us into the show an  hour early so we got to go into the ring and get autographs from the circus people along with seeing some acts they did, and pet an elephant and various other things. The show was 2 1/2 hours long, we got home at about 10:45pm. The kids were beat, but we all had a great time. The only down side is the merchandise they sell, mann its expensive. A lemonade is 8 bucks, a popcorn 6 bucks, even a program was 14 bucks. we bought it all and more anyway, its for the kids. I would highly reccomend going if it comes to your town. We'll go back next year.........Ed

I still remember the first time my oldest DD saw her first elephant.  She was just starting to talk, and had sort of learned the word doggie, which she pronounced "dogun" and applied to all animals.

We were at a small zoo that had a carnival-like side show with a few of the animals.  She wasn't too interested in what was going on.  She did not see the elephant come out.  She did not notice it make a few laps around the ring.  She did not notice it come over to right in front of us.  It was close enough to be a bit unnerving to me, but not wanting her to be terrified, I stayed cool.  As the elephant stepped up on the ring and raised his head and trunk (the elephant was as much over us as in front of us), I spoke her name.

She looked up, and I was afraid she would start screaming.

"DOGUN, Daddy, DOGUN!"

"That's not a doggy, that's an ELEPHANT!"

I guess she decided elephant was just too hard a word for a girl less than two years old to say.  She was totally engrossed in the rest of the show, however.

Thanks Ed. We just found out the Circus is coming to Phoenix next week and we were able to get tickets. Not as good as yours but I am sure we enjoy it. I haven't been to the Circus for about 16 years. It was a blast last time. I am glad you and your family had a great time. We will be going next Friday. Can't wait.
Take care.
