Sink drain problem

After a several-year tent-camping hiatus, my wife and I have returned to the tent-trailer fold.

We have a 2006 Fleetwood Timberlake.  It is an excellent unit, a small upgrade from the older Coleman we had several years ago.  It does have a problem, however, with the really cheesy drain-flange fitting used to connect the sink with drain tubing.

The factory unit is plastic--and began leaking almost immediately.  I replaced it with a properly-installed stainless-steel bar-sink drain--but it mates poorly to the plastic piping connecting to the drain tube.  Right now, teflon-tape seems to be sealing the thread-joint, but I'm not enthusiatic about this as a long-term fix.

In addition--the drain fitting seems to want to "wander around" in the bottom of the sink--it is easily rotated, could eventually leak around the edges when sealant-putty is displaced.

Has anybody dealt with this before--and could you recommend a better solution?  Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you need to tighten the nut under the sink that attach's to the strainer.  The strainer should not move and will leak if it can move.  Teflon tape is often used for connecting plumbing parts, I wouldn't worry about using it. :)

I also replaced my plastic drain/strainer last spring with a bar one, and after tightening it have had no problems. Hope you have luck with yours.
