We have a 1994 Fleetwood Coleman Chesapeake. We just bought it. We have never owned a camper before. We bought an adapter to be able to plug it in a regular household outlet. Yesterday we did this. We ran the a/c for about 10 mins. then everything went out. We didn't trip a breaker in the house and our outdoor ext. cord still had electricity to it. I checked the fuse in the camper and it wasn't blown. Please tell me we didn't kill our camper. I have no idea what to do next. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Welcome to PUT

What do you mean by, "everything went out"?

Did just the A/C go out?

Do you still have power to the other 110 outlets in the PU?

Does the PU still have 12v power to the water pump and lights?

Do  you have a battery in your trailer and is it hooked up and charged?

What is the length of the ext cord that you were using and what gage wire is the ext cord?

Can you plug the A/C directly into the extension cord? (Don't do it until you answer the above question about the ext cord).

I'm sorry I meant that nothing works in the camper. No lights no outlets no a/c. I was using a yellow heavy duty outdoor cord but it was very warm so maybe we messed up the 30amp adapter. We have a place for a battery but don't have one.

I FEEL STUPID!!!!! Besides having a fuse we also have circuit breakers in the camper and they were tripped. Is that bad that we tripped them or could it be because we had too much running on a little amp supply?  I wish our camper had come with a manual!!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of SPUT's (Stupid Pup Up Tricks) from a charter member...LOL

and yes you tripped the breaker from too much draw. Using a 15 to 30 amp adapter means you only get 15 amps Total. An air conditioner all by itself can draw between 10 and 16 amps depending on the model/year.
The rule of thumb is if you connect to a lower amperage circuit than the 30 amp shore power cord forget the air conditioner. Remember the AC plugs into a dedicated 20 amp circuit breaker inside the trailer's converter.
