Quote from: tlhdocWhy do you thin the RV experience would make tenting more enjoyable?:)

We're more experienced, we've handled more situations.  I started camping about 5 or 6 years ago with our youngest DD.  Never did any with the older 2.  (Did a lot of boy scout camping and camping with my parents when I was a kid.)

DD and I started out with a tent and a couple of sleeping bags and air mattresses.  We'd check the weather report for a night that showed low overnight temp over 60 degrees and no rain.  We would rent a site at Campbell Campground, 3 miles down the road.  DD loved the swimming pool, playground and the walk to the ice cream stand just down the road.  Our first experience with rain was at Watkins Glen State Park.  We had expanded to cooking meals at that point, and dinner and breakfast were both rained out.  We found a nice diner on the road to Montour Falls.  We decided we needed more stuff to handle the weather.  To make a long story short, we now have more stuff...a lot more.  If we were to tent camp now, we'd have to pick and choose what to take, but the expanded choices coupled with the experience we have now would make the tenting much more enjoyable.

Just asked DD if she'd want to try it again...in a tent.  She just looked at me and said "It would be cold."  So much for nostalgia.

Quote from: GeneFNot sorry that I left all you lowly popup owners and got myself a hybrid three years ago.  Just wanted to be a classier camper than the rest of you with those little fold up things. :)

Really kind of disliked seeing the "class" remarks but unfortunately there is a certain feeling out there towards different types of campers.

I have found that it is the people inside the campers that makes the big difference.  Kind of the same thing as the people who live in the starter homes and the people in the trophy homes.

We have travelled all over and have found friends and not-so-friends in many campgrounds from tenters to class A.

Don't blame the type of camper, blame the class of camper. :)

Well said. I vote for Gene as Mayor. ;)
