Just wanted to say thanks to all who went to the Rally in Bath.

Terry and I felt very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed camping with all of you.

We are looking forward to Cape May next year.

Tracy, thanks for talking me into going.

We did enjoy the area.

We made it up to the Windmill Flea Market for a good part of one day.  Somehow we took a wrong turn and did a lot of extra driving.  Got back to the park a lot quicker.

The Windmill was interesting.  There was a high school steel drum band playing that was very good.  My shy wife got talkiing with the leader.  He was a teacher and had been teaching the band for about 30 years.  Terry bought their cd.

We spent the next day riding around the park.  We started around 7:30 and were glad that we did because of the heat.  Some beautiful views and met some interesting people at the different stops.  Too hot to take any hikes  but the views at the stops were great.  Temp under my awning hit 99.

We enjoyed the museum, very interesting and watched the 30 minute video which was excellent.  Terry's big disappointment was that the mastadon skeleton was only the head.  She thought it was going to be the whole skeleton.

It really is a very nice park and well kept.  I thought that the electric only sites were a bit strange.  Never ran into that type of site before.
By the way, I don't recommend site 337, it is in full sun.  I was very happy to have the a/c on the trailer.

I had a little fun helping out a guy next to us.  He came in with a rented popup and didn't have a good handle on setting one up.  So I stuck my nose in and he did appreciate it.  By the way, he and his wife were camping with 3 kids in age from about 11 months to about 3 years old.  Their friends who ended up setting up their tent on our site (I offered) were camping with a 5 month old.  It was a lot of fun watching the two young families.

Terry was a bit disappointed with the park staff that she encountered.  Not very helpful.  She asked for directions to the local church in Perry (?).  Woman at the counter didn't know the town well.  Another woman shouted that the church was on Church Street.  No such street in town.  Terry seemed to think that they were not very interested in giving out information.  She had the same type of problem when we registered.

Because of the heat, we departed a day early.  We had made reservations to eat at the Inn (which was rather elegant) but decided to pass and go home.  Since it was going to be another real hot day, we didn't want to sit around in the trailer with the a/c on.  We would have liked to have been able to do a bit more sightseeing in the park and walk a few of the shorter trails.

We left about 7:30 a.m. and got home around 6 p.m.  Total driving around for us was 1330 miles and $275 for gas.  That was an ouch but we did manage to get gas at $2.99.9 and below.

All in all we did enjoy ourselves at the park.  Plenty to do and plenty to see.

Ooohhh!  You had reservations at the Glen Iris Inn and passed it up?  That would have been a highlight of the trip.  It is OUTSTANDING!

Otherwise, your trip sounded great.  Glad you enjoyed it.  We've heard that same steel band ourselves.  Can't remember if they were from Dundee or Ithaca (Sherrie says Dundee).  They perform occasionally in Corning.

Gene and Terrie, I was glad I got to spend time with you all.
Electric only sites are the norm for SPs around here (even in Indiana), the water is centrally located every so many sites so you either have to bring a long hose and hook up when needed or a jug to fill you tank. Or do like me and bring bottled to drink and a 32 cup coffee pot for hot water and a fresh water jug for incidentals.

In way of Thanks also, I got a very nice note from the family we sort of adopted, the Smiths.  They may post in the future. Very nice couple with 4 young boys in a Coleman or Fleetwood Utah (I think).
